The VAR-SMARC-MX8M-PLUS is a SMARC-compliant System on Module powered by NXP’s i.MX 8M Plus, combining integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) with advanced multimedia capabilities.
The i.MX 8M Plus integrates a 1.8GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 and an 800MHz Cortex-M7 real-time co-processor, alongside a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for AI/ML inference. For imaging, the processor includes an Image Signal Processor (ISP) with dual camera inputs, supported by a 2D/3D GPU and H.265 video encode and decode engines. Connectivity features include certified WiFi 6 dual-band 802.11ax/ac/a/b/g/n with Bluetooth 5.4 and optional 802.15.4, dual GbE with IEEE1588 support, USB3 connections, dual CAN-FD, PCIe, and display outputs up to 4K HDMI, dual LVDS, and DSI.
For security, the VAR-SMARC-MX8M-PLUS integrates a dedicated hardware Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 chip with FIPS 140-3 Level 2 compliance. Combined with the processor’s built-in secure boot and cryptographic acceleration, these features address regulatory requirements, including the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).
The VAR-SMARC-MX8M-PLUS is compatible with Variscite’s VAR-SMARC Pin2Pin product family, ensuring seamless scalability and an easy migration path to meet different performance and feature requirements.
