The SOLO-PRO-60-40-CUBE from SOLO Motor Controllers is a compact, ready-to-use motor drive combining advanced motion control, power electronics, and industrial communication interfaces in a housing measuring just 43.2 × 43.2 × 43.6 mm.

Designed for supply voltages from 8 to 60 VDC, the drive delivers up to 40 A DC (25 A rms) continuous output current and 1200 W continuous output power. Its integrated power stage, motor control electronics, current sensing, and protection functions eliminate the need for custom power electronics or motor control firmware development.

The compact design makes the SOLO-PRO-60-40-CUBE particularly suitable for decentralized drive solutions, robotics, industrial automation, and space-constrained applications.

Advanced Motor Control with Dual-Core Architecture

At the heart of the SOLO-PRO-60-40-CUBE is the SOLO-SOM, featuring a Texas Instruments dual-core C2000 DSP with two independent 200 MHz processors.

The first processor handles all motor control tasks using SOLO’s integrated firmware. Field-Oriented Control (FOC) provides precise torque, speed, and position regulation with a current control loop execution time of just 7 µs.

The second processor is fully accessible for user programming and enables application-specific functions such as supervisory control, custom command processing, or machine-specific logic without requiring an additional microcontroller.

The drive supports brushed DC motors, BLDC motors, Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM), and coreless EC motors. Automatic motor parameter identification and self-tuning simplify commissioning and optimize control performance.

Flexible Integration and Industrial Connectivity

The SOLO-PRO-60-40-CUBE offers a comprehensive range of interfaces for integration into industrial control systems.

EtherCAT and CANopen (CiA 402 / DS402) enable communication with industrial controllers, while USB-C and UART provide additional options for configuration and digital control. Analogue and PWM command inputs allow straightforward integration with PLCs, microcontrollers, and other control electronics.

Multiple position feedback interfaces support Hall sensors, incremental encoders, BiSS-C absolute encoders, and Sin/Cos sensors.

The integrated Safe Torque Off (STO) and Safe Brake Off (SBO) functions provide hardware interfaces for machine safety systems. An active brake chopper supports regenerative operation with an external braking resistor.

Commissioning, configuration, and control-loop tuning are performed using the browser-based SOLO Motion Terminal, eliminating the need for custom motor control software.
